Amanda is a native of Kenosha, Wisconsin, and moved to Orlando almost 5 years ago. She married her middle-school sweetheart (YES, you read that right! They have been together since they were 14!) and they now have a 12-month-old son! Before making the switch to being a stay-at-home mom, Amanda was a 1st grade teacher. Hobbies help to make her life more interesting. When she’s not sipping her coffee and chasing around a toddler, she enjoys DIY projects, crafting, nature, walks, helping & teaching others, and photography. But most of all she LOVES just spending time with her little family. Here’s a fun fact…Amanda has a huge obsession with children’s books. It must be the teacher in her! Recently Amanda started a blog called Capturing Life’s Gifts where she is documenting her life as a new mom, along with exploring her new DIY hobby. She believes blogging helps her to capture moments of how she’s staying true to herself and also being a mother. She refers to it as the “authentic mom”. Amanda loves all the adventures motherhood brings and she can’t wait to share them with you!

Anne Marie is a Pittsburgher at heart who just relocated to Orlando during the summer of 2015. A life-long lover of winter and snow, Anne Marie has learned to worship the sun and sand that Florida has to offer. She got her BA in theatre from Cleveland State University by way of West Liberty University where she met her husband Bill of almost 9 years during her first production. They have 3 elementary age kids (Liam, Eliza-Beth, and London) who have more energy than the Energizer Bunny. They keep Anne Marie on her toes while she works from home as the blogger/owner of Crunchy, Crafty, and Highly Caffeinated, podcaster at Universe Box, and the new Secretary of the school PTA. During her “free time” (aka when she should be doing laundry or scrubbing toilets) Anne Marie can be found with a cocktail in her hand, binge watching a new show on TV.

Candace

Candace

Contributor

Candace is a native Central Floridian. With no sense of direction, driving anywhere too far out of Winter Springs (where she currently lives) sends her head into a whirl. Her favorite date would probably be takeout from Five Guys and a game of scrabble with her high school sweetheart-turned-husband, Nick. Don’t tell him that though, he likes to spoil her with much fancier things. She spends her days in some weird state between blissfully grateful and absolutely overwhelmed as a mother to three of the cutest Colombianos (Sienna 9, Titus 5, Adella 1). Teenage motherhood launched Candace into a passionate believer in faith, grace, and sucking it up and puttin’ on your big-girl panties. You can count on Candace for a good laugh, a great party, and any decorating tips you may need. She enjoys making all things pretty… except of course, life. That ain’t so pretty and she prefers to share a “me too” rather than just the highlight reel.

I’m originally from El Paso, Texas and have lived in Orlando since 1995, with the exception of living in Las Vegas from 2006-2009. I have a background in Event and Television/Film production. I was an Event Manager for CineVegas Film Festival in Las Vegas which was chaired by Dennis Hopper and a talent assistant for the HBO & TBS Comedy Festivals. For CineVegas, I was responsible for planning celebrity red carpet premieres and honoree receptions which included, Charlize Theron, Ben Kingsly, Anthony Hopkins, Anjelica Huston, Don Cheadle to name a few. In Orlando I worked for a sports network for 5 years. If life would have taken me in a different direction I would have become a chef because I love cooking so much (doesn’t mean I’m excellent at it). However, I was fortunate enough to collaborate with some of the best chefs during my time in Las Vegas which was definitely a highlight in my career. My fiancé and I have been together for 7 years but have known each other more than 20. We have a blended family – Miguel has 2 boys (14 yr. old & 11 yr. old) and we have a 3 year old daughter together, so our lives are pretty busy. I’m a working mom just trying to balance it all. I started my blog Modern Latina Mommy because that’s exactly what I feel I am. I want my daughter to be exposed to the Mexican traditions I grew up with, yet give them a modern twist. Her dad is a professional Mariachi at EPCOT so we are definitely a theme park family. My home is filled with music, laughter, a little bit of chaos and a whole lot of love.

Elizabeth

Elizabeth is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, who moved to Orlando almost 20 years ago after meeting her husband on her one and only Colorado ski trip. They live in Windermere, and are the busy parents of fraternal twin tweens, Genevieve and Elyse. Elizabeth is able to juggle her full-time job and her family life thanks to her supportive and flexible husband, her sitter, her sense of humor, and a lot of caffeine. Managing the activities of her two eleven year olds requires a lot of planning and organizing, and writing the calendar in pencil. Since she hasn’t figured out how to make a living at writing, she’s combined her two passions, mothering and writing, by contributing to the Orlando Moms Blog. When she feels overwhelmed, her husband reminds her of her favorite quote, ‘There is no way to be a perfect mother, but a million ways to be a good one.”

I grew up in a small farming community in Illinois, moved to Orlando in 2003 for an internship…and never left! I’ve been married to Craig, a Florida native and Disney cast member, for 6 years. I was a youth pastor to middle and high school students for twelve years. I love older kids, but now I am surrounded by babies and preschoolers much more often. I work part-time and am Mom to a healthy four-year-old son, a two-year-old daughter with special needs and a preemie boy who was born at 26 weeks. I earned a B.A. in Communication Studies at Taylor University in Indiana and an M.A. in Historical Theology from Wheaton College…but so far my career as a mom has included an informal education in seizure management, pediatric therapy, pureed food-making, food allergy management, feeding tube use, freezer-meal making, full-time milk pumping, learning to ask for help and lots of creative planning. When life allows, I love spending time outside with my family, reading, drinking coffee with friends and exploring new places. I currently share about my parenting journey at wayinthewild.blogspot.com.

Your Family: I have two kids, a dreamy husband, a messy house, and a nose for (mis)adventure!
Education: I got my Bachelors Degree from the University of Florida (Go Gators!). I have moments when post-graduate pursuits appeal to me, then I remember I can’t find time to paint my toenails and that life itself is an excellent education.
Mom Acronym:
WOHM who spent too many years too focused on work and have since fixed the problem. WARNING: I’m the Jerry Maguire of working moms and just might take you with me. Goldfish welcome.
Your Perfect Day: I love a day filled with “adventures about town” — feeding the swans at Lake Eola, perusing a used book store, frequenting our favorite gluten-free-friendly eateries or finding a new local treasure!
Can’t Live Without: My church family. After a few years of not feeling “settled” in Orlando, we joined a church. It made all the difference in helping us feel connected.
Favorite Mom Tip: If you end up needing a C-section, don’t panic! I had a cesarean and then a VBAC; and to my utter shock I preferred the C-Section!
