Poppin’ bottles in the ice. Like a G6.

Doesn’t everyone sing this song to make the time pass faster as they wash bottles? Doesn’t everyone spend 40 mins. washing and sanitizing bottles every night?? You don’t all wash 12 bottles per night?? Hello?? Anyone???

It’s finally over. We survived. And we are ecstatic. Elated. Thrilled. The nights of excessive bottle washing are behind us. Maybe this doesn’t seem like a big feat for most of you, but for the past year, our nights have been overshadowed by the sight of a sink full of dirty bottles. Every single night included anxiety related to those dang bottles. Looking forward to a night out for dinner so we don’t have to cook? Fun! But once we get home, we still have to get everyone bathed and to bed and then… wash bottles!!! Yay!!!!

“Seeing those dirty bottles in the sink every night makes me angry,” a friend recently told me. I, too, have been filled with dread at the thought night after night. And to be honest, my incredible husband has taken on the bottle washing duty more often than I, usually without complaint, which is more than I can say for myself. So, three cheers to him!

For those that can relate, no matter how many bottles you wash at night, I am here to tell you that it won’t last forever. The day the girls’ teacher told us that we didn’t need to bring bottles to school anymore was literally a day of celebration for us. The weight has been lifted. The anxiety is gone.

Do you know what this means for us? Maybe we can watch a show before we go to sleep at night. Or maybe we could use that time to get lunches made the night before instead of rushing in the morning. Who knows what we’ll do with our time, but tonight, who cares? We’re poppin’ a different kind of bottle in the ice to celebrate the end of the bottle washing era…clink, clink!
