Family Friendly Spring Break Vacation Spots
Family Friendly Spring Break Vacation Spots

Aside from Disney World  and the rest of the theme parks in our backyard, there are tons of hidden gems around Florida where you can spend spring break with the family. For me personally, a resort that offers kids’ camp is a huge plus. My kids love going (and they will tell you this, not lying!), and we love having a break from the kids for a few hours to relax by the pool or take a walk on the beach.

If the beach isn’t your thing, there are a ton of state parks around Florida, and several springs where you can tube and swim.

Nature preserves are also abundant in Florida. We have some beautiful and rare birds around the Everglades and also up and down Florida’s East and West coasts.

Funny how my top list of spring break destinations has changed since having kids. Gone are the days of partying on spring break at Irish Kevin’s (a must see in Key West!), now it’s kids’ camp and fruity drinks with umbrellas… guess there are worse ways to spend a spring break!

My top pick for a kid- friendly resort around Florida is Hammock Beach Resort in Palm Coast, FL

Just a short drive from Orlando and you arrive at one of the prettiest beaches on the East Coast. The reason I love Hammock Beach is because of all the options for accommodations. Even their standard room is larger than most resorts, and includes a separated bedroom area and a pullout couch. If you prefer more room, there are condos with up to four bedrooms that can be booked. In addition to the spacious accommodations, there is basically a small-scale water park on the property with a slide and lazy river. There is also a zero-entry pool for the little ones, and of course the beach. The resort also offers golf and many other exciting activities. Kids’ camp is also great here. They have full or half-day programs, and even a parents’ night out option.

Some of my other favorite resorts around Florida are listed below.

Tween Waters Inn, Captiva, FL

Sanibel Harbour Resort, Sanibel, FL

Tradewinds Resort, St. Pete Beach, FL

Don CeSar, St. Pete Beach, FL

Whatever you decide for spring break in Florida, you will surely experience great weather and some beautiful sights.

What are some of your top Florida vacation destinations? We would love to hear them!

  1. We love Disney’s Vero Beach Resort for many of the same reasons. Great pool and right on the beach. Their kids club and activities and crafts are all lots of fun. Every other night they do a campfire with s’mores too. You can stay in the hotel rooms or book into a 1, 2 or 3 bedroom villa (they are Disney Vacation Club rooms but you can buy “points” online in exchanges to make this possible.) We like the villas with kitchens so we can make our own little meals and only visit the expensive snack bar for cocktails and ice cream treats. Anyway – we love the Disney Vero Beach resort. Been there twice and will be back this Labor Day too!
