Amy SweezeyIt’s no secret that we have a celebrity crush on WESH-2 Meteorologist Amy Sweezey! So when we discovered that this super mom authored her first children’s picture book about weather in Florida, we immediately wanted to know more!

Orlando Moms Blog – So what’s this book all about?

Amy Sweezey – Well, “It Never, Ever Snows in Florida,” is a children’s picture book designed to showcase winter weather Florida-style. The book features a little boy named AJ, and his mom, who happens to be a TV meteorologist. AJ lives in Florida where it never, ever snows. He dreams of a day when he can build a snowman, or wear warm boots in the winter like other kids. AJ soon learns he can’t say “never” when it comes to weather. Just because he hasn’t seen any, doesn’t mean it never snows in Florida.

Orlando Moms Blog – What was your inspiration for writing this book?

Amy Sweezey – When I started reading to my Florida-born kids about the seasons, I soon discovered most winter books are about cold and snow. I decided Florida kids needed a story to remind them that our weather is a little bit different than our friends and family who live up north. My kids have always been jealous of other kids who have snow in the winter. They don’t understand how lucky they are to not shovel or scrape ice!

Orlando Moms Blog – This is perfect! And I’m certain Florida moms (especially Orlando moms!) will definitely want to get their hands on your book! How can they get one?

Amy Sweezey – The book is available for purchase RIGHT NOW at amazon.com. AND, I’m really excited to announce the BOOK SIGNING event on Saturday, November 14, 2015 from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM at the International Community School, 4800 Howell Branch Road, Winter Park, FL 32792. Copies of the book will be available for purchase (cash or check only) for $10 (tax included and no shipping!) Of course, autographs are FREE! I’d be honored to sign your book. Of course you can get more details on my website and my Facebook page!

Amy’s book will be a perfect addition to your child’s library! I can totally relate with the challenges of explaining winter weather to my Florida-raised kids! My 12 year old STILL has yet to experience snowfall or build a snowman! Even though we travel north every other Christmas, we inevitably miss the white fluffy snow by days! Instead, our winter months are filled with imagination as we walk in our flip flops through theme park’s faux snow, then watch the animated fireplace on the TV and snuggle up with a snowman shaped coffee mug. I know I’m not alone in saying that I’m excited to get my hands on a copy of Amy’s book!
