Apple picking and hoodies. Bonfires and Trick-or Treat. Football tailgates and Pumpkin spice EVERYTHING.

Fall is my absolute favorite time of the year and I celebrate it from mid-August through the morning of Black Friday when my brain switches to Christmas mode.

One of my favorite ways to do celebrate is to bake and cook and craft. Usually I make breads and muffins and soups made of gourds, but today I went for caramel!

I’ve seen caramel apple nachos floating around Pinterest for years and always wanted to try them. The problem is I never have caramel in the house because it isn’t the family’s favorite flavor. Don’t get me wrong, we like it, it’s just not our default like peanut butter or chocolate. Today I decided to make caramel sauce from scratch and whip up some salted caramel apple bites.

I couldn’t believe how quick and easy it was!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 12 tablespoons of butter
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 shakes salt
  • 3 apples
  • decorations of your choice: chocolate chips, nuts, raisins, colored sugars, etc.
