American Girl Doll GIVEAWAY :: Luciana Vega!

3…2…1…Meet Luciana Vega! American Girl’s newest character who is on a mission to be the first astronaut on Mars, leading the way for girls to explore their own curiosity about space and science—and helping their confidence soar.

Orlando Moms Blog is giving away TWO American Girl dolls via our FB platform and separately on our IG platform. Be sure you follow and like our pages for the rules!
For extra entries to win, comment below, and share why you’d love to win Luciana Vega!

American Girl is introducing Luciana Vega, the 2018 Girl of the Year. She comes with an out-of-this-world storyline about an 11-year-old who dreams of being the first person on Mars. American Girl worked with NASA, including a task force of advisors (scientists, astronauts, and more below) who helped ensure the accuracy and authenticity of Luciana’s world—from her story and products to a STEM-based educational program in partnership with Scholastic and Space Camp.

Looking beyond her cool line of space-inspired products (like a Mars habitat and flight suit!), American Girl’s purpose behind this character is what’s most important. Luciana shows what it can mean to be a girl of strong character today, where creative thinking, collaboration, and STEM literacy provide opportunities for meaningful growth and development. Technology continues to revolutionize what we do and what we know, and Luciana is a character that can bring visibility and valuable lessons to girls at a time in their lives when they’re learning about their infinite potential to change the world.

Bringing this story to life is an all-star advisory board that includes: Dr. Ellen Stofan, former NASA Chief Scientist, Dr. Deborah Barnhart, CEO and Executive Director of the U.S. Space & Rocket Center, Maureen O’Brien, Manager of Strategic alliances at NASA, and Dr. Megan McArthur Behnken, NASA Astronaut.

To celebrate her launch, AG is hosting Luciana debut events at its retail locations nationwide on January 1. The event features interactive science demonstrations, a Moon Phase craft, galaxy-inspired treats, and a free Luciana doll tee to take home. For more details, visit .

Would love to win one for my dear Daughter!

STEM learning is so essential to girls & boys! And knowing girls have role models in male dominate careers breaks the barriers and changes the career fields for our future girl generations.

I look forward to seeing the career field limitless for our daughters.

The reality is, my daughter is not only a girl, but also a minority. I believe it is VERY important to instill in her, from a young age, that she is more than capable of achieving any goals she may set, and puts hard work into. The stars are the limit, and this doll is a PERFECT representation of that!! 🙂

As a first generation Latina and a grandmother of a beautiful grand daughter I am always searching for ways to make sure my grandchildren always know that in their roots runs Hispanic/Latina blood. Why would this be important? Because of the beautiful tapestry of cultures which exist in each and everyone of our countries. Our language, which mainly stems from Latin roots, our foods, spices and colors of our clothing and food are very diverse. We are so different, yet so similar and in understanding and accepting these differences they will be able to admire and continue to pass along their Latino culture to their own children and somehow keep the connection to our heritage. But my greatest desire is that via the understanding and experiences of this collection of cultures our world will become more accepting and loving of cultural diversity.

Oh my goodness!!! My daughter and I are in love with Luciana! My grandfather retired from NASA. He worked for NASA in AL, TX and in FL for many years so our family has a great love for all things NASA, STEM and space…..I went to Space Camp in Alabama when I was 12 and I can’t wait for my kids to go.
My daughter recently became a huge American Girl fan and we both squealed when I got the email announcing Luciana. She immediately asked for her as a present for her birthday in March.

My daughter has a doll and one outfit still (An orange astronaut flight suit that I ordered off zulilly
Two years ago). Now I have to buy more outfits for her (me lol). We did Space Camp as a family, I did Space Camp as an adult, and now I just need to talk her into going alone. As an engineer (who would have loved to have been an astronaut), I love that AG is introducing STEM to young girls.

  34. Christina Chen January 6, 2018 at 6:29 am #

Thank you, OMB, for highlighting Luciana and her story! My 6-year-old daughter is fascinated with science—and space in particular. Our visit to Kennedy Space Center last summer confirmed and deepened her interest in our universe and has only increased her desire to seek out the HOW of studying and exploring what’s “out there.” Bravo, American Girl, for creating a character with a story to mirror girls like my daughter who want to understand and engage in their environments through science (and bonus points for having her reflect our multicultural lives)!

My fish haters favorite subjects right now are science and math – would love to keep her passionate about those subjects as well!

  43. Josann Fernandez January 6, 2018 at 9:20 am #

Luciana represents a adventure. A lot like my daughter she is very girly but at the same time loves science, math adventure. Thanks AG for always giving girls postive roles.

My girl wold absolutely love this doll. She turns 5 on the 24th and is at a point she is obsessed with American Girl. Aside from that my girl loves science, science experiments, and anything to do with space. She would love the fact that there is an American Girl that dreams of space because one of the things my girl wants to be when she grows up is an astronaut.

  45. Erinne Moran January 6, 2018 at 10:59 am #

My soon-to-be 9 year old daughter has loved STEM endeavors since she was in Pre-K. She wants to be a scientist (and mommy) when she grows up, and her favorite toys are toys science kits, circuit board kits, GoldiBlox, a telescope, and a microscope. I love that this doll encourages STEM and nurturing.

  46. Jane Vermaak January 6, 2018 at 5:36 pm #

Luciana would be a great first American Girl to own! I’ve always been a big American Girl fan, but haven’t gotten the chance to own a doll yet. As a young teacher, the little girls I work with would be endlessly inspired by Luciana. She’s the perfect example of believing in yourself – especially where maths and science are concerned.

  47. Brenda Stevens January 6, 2018 at 6:43 pm #

My daughter turns 5 next week and she loves everything about outer space. One of her favorite shows is Cosmos and her favorite t-shirt has the solar system on it. She wants to be a rocket scientist (or a lifeguard–depends on the day!) when she grows up. She would love this doll!

  48. Emily January 6, 2018 at 7:30 pm #

Don’t know if the girls would get this or if they would give her to me! She is adorable and has some awesome hobbies. She would fit in well in our house, where anything space goes! 55. Michelle Sanford January 7, 2018 at 8:06 am #

My 6-year-old daughter currently loves all things science. Her Christmas list included a science kit, chemistry lab, doctor’s office with a working stethoscope, and play rocket ship. I loved that it wasn’t the usual list of popular toys! She dreams of being a scientist, science teacher, vet, or an architect one day. I love that these aren’t the usual jobs that young kids dream of pursuing. Yesterday, she spent 3 hours coloring a science book coloring book that the school science teacher gave her. She hasn’t picked up her other coloring books (Hello Kitty, Barbie, etc.) in months. My kid isn’t the usual kid and she would LOVE to have Luciana Vega by her side! What a great addition to the American Girl team! I can only imagine the adventures Luciana will take with each girl or boy by her side. Perhaps a backyard mission to Mars? Collecting moon rocks in the front yard? Eating space ice cream on a hot day? This doll can create so many imaginative possibilities. I’m sure the first mission she and my daughter would take together would be to play with that toy rocket ship she got for Christmas! And I would absolutely love that!

  56. Johanna Estrada-Finnerty January 7, 2018 at 2:35 pm #

Like many parents on this site, my daughter loves space and science. This doll and her accessories, such as the maker table and the telescope really allow the imagination to flourish. I’m excited for this doll and hope to win one for my daughter to show her girls can do great in science too.
