Budget-Friendly Summer Camps

Budget friendly summer camps

This morning Fox 35 interviewed Orlando Moms Blog to find affordable budget-friendly summer camps.
FOX 35 News Orlando

OMB Contributor Sarah Piguet shares, “I work full time away from home and have two camp-aged kids. Camp is childcare for me over the summer; so we’ve been known to enroll them in more than half a dozen camps in a given summer. A few things I always consider are hidden costs, like having to pay extra for field trips, or if I may have to pay additional fees to drop them off early or pick them up late to align with my workday.”

We’ve put together a budget-friendly summer camp list that will keep the kids active without breaking the bank! Here’s our top picks under $175/week:

Camp Boggy Creek

Camp Boggy Creek

Camp Boggy Creek (no charge)

Near and dear to our hearts, Camp Boggy Creek is a place of dreams, of joy, of possibilities. A camp where children with serious illnesses and their families can forget the word “no” for a little while and embrace the promise of “yes”. Camp Boggy Creek was founded in 1996 by Paul Newman and General H. Norman Schwarzkopf, with one simple premise in mind, that every child, no matter their illness, could experience the transformational spirit and friendships that go hand in hand with camp.

With unobtrusive expert medical care, it was their dream that Camp would provide seriously ill children with a fun-filled experience defined by compassion, laughter and acceptance. Camp Boggy Creek never charges campers to attend and never asks them to contribute anything other than a positive, playful attitude.

Who can attend CBC? Children ages 7 through 16 with one of the following diseases, illnesses or conditions: asthma (severe), bleeding disorders and hemophilia, cancer, craniofacial disorders, diabetes, epilepsy, heart/cardiovascular, HIV/AIDS (immune deficiency), inflammatory bowel disease, kidney disease, rheumatic disease, ventilator assisted disorders, sickle cell anemia, spina bifida and transplants.

Our two age groups are structured differently with age-appropriate activities.  Camp times are always 2:30-5:30 (the hottest part of the day!).  If you would like your child to get out of the house for a few hours of fun and exercise to escape the summertime blues, this camp is for you!
