This week isย Diaper Need Awareness Week!

Diaper Need Awareness Week is a Nationwide Awareness Week that was started as a way to shed light on a basic need that so many families struggle with – a need that most of us do not even think about – diapers. Unfortunately, WIC, food stamps and other government help doย not cover the cost of diapers and wipes. In fact, diapers are classified as โ€œdisallowed purchasesโ€, along with pet food and alcohol. For the average family, it can cost up to $100 per week for diapers and supplies for babies.

#DiaperNeed is getting some serious attention again from the City of Orlando. Mayor Buddy Dyer, has again declared September 28- October 4 as Diaper Needs Awareness Week.

#DiaperNeed Awareness Week is being led by the Diaper Bank of Central Florida. The Diaper Bank is a community organization based in Orange County that collects diapers and distributes them to partner agencies in Orange and Seminole counties. These partner agencies, directly help the families in need throughout the Orange and Seminole County communities. Essentially, the Diaper Bank acts as the middle man between the people and businesses in the community that want to donate and the organizations in the community that work directly with the people that need help the most.

During Diaper Need Awareness Week, you can donate diapers at several locations around Central Florida. Iberia Bank has been the Diaper Bankโ€™s biggest supporter this year, with 6 drop off locations throughout Orange County! Edward Jones has 2 locations, the Orlando Law Group, Waterford Lakes Town Center, Style Encore and the Winter Park Chamber are also all drop off sites, and there are more! You can find all of the drop off locations on the Diaper Banks Website {www.diaperbankofcentralflorida.org} and Facebook page.

Do you plan on helping the Diaper Bank? If so, let me know in the comments below! You can host a diaper drive or donate diapers at any of the participating locations!
