Summer, why do you always slip away so fast??? As we are {very} quickly approaching the start of the school year, we’ve decided to put together a First Day Ready Checklist to help us moms get back into the swing of things.

back to school first day ready checklist

For Moms Sanity:

โœ” Make lunch, pack a snack and a water bottle.
๐Ÿ’กPro Tip: Include a first day Love note!

โœ” Lay out clothes (down to the socks-avoid the sock battle!)
๐Ÿ’กPro Tip: Include a light jacket & an extra pair of clothes in their backpack for the new Kindergartners just in case they get cold in class or need a change of clothes.

โœ” Make sure everything is labeled
๐Ÿ’กPro Tip: Child Safety experts suggest that we donโ€™t label with kids names on the outside/visible area of their backpacks! But you can label the inside of the lunchbox and your childโ€™s name on the water bottle (weโ€™ve lost our fair share over the years!) We love Mabels Labels!

To Make it Less Stressful for the Littles:

โœ” Make sure backpack is packed and ready to go (except the lunch obvs) with shoes by the door.

โœ”Set alarm clock โฐ

โœ”Pre-pick and agree on a healthy breakfast (we love avocado toast and some fruit!)

Just for Fun:

โœ”Print your first day of school sign and your questionnaire.

โœ”Set up homework station!

๐Ÿ’กIdeas: Have pencils, paper, scissors, glue, crayons etc. all in one spot and ready for homework!

โœ”Have healthy after school snacks readily available

๐Ÿ’กIdeas: Hummus, PB, fruit, & pretzels are easy go-toโ€™s!

โœ”Create a morning checklist board so the littles know what to do and in what order (empower them!)

๐Ÿ’กIdeas: Brush teeth, get dressed, make bed, eat breakfast, put shoes on, and grab lunch are super easy for little ones!

โœ”Read a special bedtime story
